The PUWER Regulations (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998), HSG 76 and EN 15635: The Application and Maintenance of Storage Equipment, state that ‘expert’ inspections should take place at least once per year and the period between inspections should not exceed 12 months. In some situations, particularly for highly active operational warehouses, a more frequent inspection regime should be employed, for example, quarterly or bi-annually. In addition to ‘expert’ inspections being undertaken by a competent external provider, such as ROS UK, the user is also obliged to conduct regular in-house inspections. These regular in-house inspections should be undertaken by the user’s nominated Person Responsible for Storage Equipment Safety (PRSES) – please see our Pallet Racking Inspection Training page for more detail on how to train members of your staff to competently inspect pallet racking.
